Can Non-Poly People Attend?
- Some monogamous partners of polyamorous people have attended with their partner
- Some monogamous people have attended solo just to learn more about polyamory
- We have had people who identify more as nudists, some who identify more as swingers, and some who identify as relationship anarchists attend
- Note: While we love having people from other Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM) styles and even monogamous people attend, CPW is focused on Polyamory. CPW is a place to learn more about polyamory and get to know amazing poly friends. CPW is specifically NOT a place to expect to find a new partner, nor is it a place to try to convert people to some other relationship style or to do research on polyamorous people.
What about Diversity?
- There are often poly newbies (people who are just learning about Polyamory) at CPW, it is a safe place
- Most people attending CPW have been living as Polyamorous for 3 to 20 years
- Many people who attend CPW are part of the LGTBQIA+ community
- A significant number of attendees self-identify as neurodiverse
- We have had a number of people with disabilities attend and work to accommodate people's needs
- People of many different races, cultures, and economic backgrounds have attended CPW
- We have had entire polycules attend (usually spread across multiple bedrooms)
- We have had poly people who are in multiple relationships, but who want to do something solo attend
Tickets and Finances
Why do I have to be a site member to register?
- Members of the CPW site can register by simply clicking on the Register button in the top menu
- For people who are not net site members, we require people to either reply to an email from our host or have a conversation do make sure that everyone acknowledges the consent rules for the weekend
- The consent rules are:
- This retreat is not a pick-up scene or a swinger party
- If you do not come to this event with a partner with whom you are already sexually active, do not assume that you will find a sexual or play partner at this event
- This is an “Only ‘Yes!!!’ means Consent” event. All non-incidental physical touch requires a verbal, non-inebriated positive "Yes" before happening. Consent violations will result in removal from the event at a minimum.
- Site member are asked to fill in a My Event Info section to indicate their dietary and schedule preferences for the weekend
How much does this cost?
- It costs a $120 per person deposit to register for the weekend
- The cost of the weekend can vary depending on the number of people in the room, whether you come up Wednesday night or not, and whether you attend activities that have fees (like bowling)
- The final cost is usually between $400 and $650 per person - for all meals and lodging for four days and nights
- Reduced rates for the weekend are available for those with financial hardship.
- You can select a reduced rate ticket when registering to indicate that you need a reduced rate.
- There are no differences between full rate and reduced rate attendance.
- With the reduced rate, the host will contact you to figure out a fair payment amount and timeframe
When do I pay for the weekend?
- You pay a deposit when you register. This deposit is applied to your total when invoices are sent
- Invoices are sent out for the balance (above the deposit paid) after the weekend is over to each party who registered
- Invoices should be paid within 30 days of receipt
- Deposits can be returned if you cancel your reservation more than 6 weeks before the weekend starts
What are the Redistribution and Reduced Rate Tickets?
- All three deposit tickets (Redistribution, Standard, and Reduced Rate) will register you for CPW
- The Redistribution Rate deposit just puts an extra $150 per person into the "helping out" money that is used to help people who have financial difficulties come to the weekends
- Select the Redistribution Rate tickets when you are doing well enough financially to help the community out
- The Reduced Rate registration tickets should be used when you are experiencing financial hardships and need help to attend the weekend
- It is our goal that everyone who wants to attend the weekend should be able to do so even if they are currently in. a place where money is tight
Where does the money go?
- We split the cost of the lodge, the food and prep, and a few other incidentals (like hosting this website)
- All money that is paid to attend the weekend is used to pay for these costs
- There are spreadsheets that are posted after each weekend that list all of the costs and all of the money paid by attendees to show how the money was spent on the weekend
Logistics
How do I select the bedroom I want?
- Bedroom assignments are done by the hosts after we have filled up the lodge (or two weeks before the event if it is not full)
- If you have a preference for what type of room you would like, please send a message to the hosts directly and let them know
- If you have disability issues, please contact the hosts directly
- The hosts will contact you for permission if they are not sure if you would be ok with the room assignment they would like to propose
How do I tell the hosts about my dietary restrictions?
- Log into the CPW website (this one)
- Click on your hame in the Top Left corner of the screen
- From the drop down menu, select "My Event Info"
- Fill out that form to let the hosts know about your dietary information, what information you would like to be visible to other CPW attendees, and what times you will be arriving and leaving the weekend
- We will do our best to accommodate all dietary restrictions
What is Wednesday Night about?
- Breckenridge is at high altitude in the Rocky Mountains
- For high altitudes, it is really nice to have an evening and a day to just let your body acclimate
- We are able to get into the lodge starting at 4pm on Wednesday
- You can drop luggage off at the lodge entryway (under the front stairs) between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday
- Do not enter the lodge before 7pm on Wednesday as we are using that time to get basic things set up and it is too chaotic to have people in before 7pm
- We suggest you go into town and find something to eat if you arrive before 7pm. You can coordinate with other people on the forum pages here or on the CPW Facebook group or the CPW Discord group
The Main Point
At the Colorado Polyamory Weekends we build community across all areas of life.
The main things that we have in common are:
we are kind to each other
we start interactions from a place of love and acceptance and curiosity
we acknowledge that some of us have more privilege than others do in our society
we believe that trans men are men and trans women are women
we believe that non-binary is a valid gender
we love each other even if some of us do not dance, sing, or bowl as well as the others
We believe that every human being is born being worthy of respect
